How to buy a Solana meme coin with Phantom
A complete, no-jargon walkthrough for first-timers: setting up a wallet, getting SOL, swapping safely and avoiding the scams that catch most beginners.

Before you start: three rules
- Your recovery phrase is your wallet. Anyone with those 12 words owns everything in it. Never type it into a website, never share it in a DM, never store it in a screenshot.
- Meme coins are extremely risky. Prices can drop 90% in a day. Only use money you would be fine losing completely.
- Always verify the contract address. Scammers create fake tokens with the same name and logo. The address is the only thing that can’t be faked.
Step 1: Install Phantom
Phantom is the most popular wallet on Solana. Download it only from phantom.app or your phone’s official app store, and check the developer is “Phantom Technologies”. Fake wallet apps exist and will steal your funds.
Open Phantom, choose Create a new wallet, set a password, and write your 12-word recovery phrase on paper. Keep it somewhere safe and offline. Phantom will ask you to confirm a few words to make sure you saved it.
Step 2: Get some SOL
You need SOL, Solana’s native coin, to buy tokens and to pay network fees (usually a fraction of a cent). There are two common ways:
- Buy inside Phantom: tap Buy and use a card or bank transfer through one of Phantom’s built-in providers. Easiest, with slightly higher fees.
- Buy on an exchange: buy SOL on an exchange like Coinbase, Kraken or Binance, then withdraw it to your Phantom address. Copy your address from Phantom, paste it as the withdrawal destination and send a small test amount first.
Keep a little extra SOL (around 0.01β0.02) in your wallet so you can always pay fees.
Step 3: Find the right token
For $CLUK, the official contract address is:
AjJZW7xGfwMiLmmuT9sdo6rKaPdw1uNmbYrxM1mY8UvMWhatever token you’re buying, get the address from the project’s official website or pinned Telegram message, never from a random reply, DM or ad. Compare the first and last few characters every time.
Step 4: Swap SOL for the token
You can swap right on cluktoken.com using the Jupiter swap box, or on jup.ag directly:
Connect your wallet
Click Connect, choose Phantom and approve the connection. Connecting only shares your public address.
Pick the tokens
Set You pay to SOL and You receive to the token, using the contract address to search.
Check slippage
Slippage is how much the price can move before your trade fails. Small meme coins often need 1β5%. Learn more in Slippage explained.
Review and approve
Check the amounts, then approve the transaction in Phantom. Read the pop-up: a normal swap shows SOL leaving and the token arriving.
Step 5: See it in your wallet
Most tokens appear in Phantom automatically after a swap. If not, open Manage token list, search the contract address and switch it on.
Scams that catch beginners
“Support” DMs
Real teams never DM you first. Anyone offering to “fix” your wallet wants your recovery phrase.
Fake airdrops
Random tokens or NFTs in your wallet linking to a “claim” site are traps. Don’t interact with them.
Copycat tokens
Same name, same logo, different address. Always verify the contract address.
Blind signing
If a site asks you to approve something you don’t understand, reject it. Read every wallet pop-up.
